Why Team Birkie?
I’ve always admired Minneapolis as a hub of Nordic Skiing culture, and having quite a few friends on the team itself made the decision even easier. I saw it as a program and culture where I could reach the highest level of skiing, all while having a great time and experiencing a new location!
How did you get into skiing?
My dad was an extremely avid and accomplished Nordic skier and coach, and I virtually grew up on skis. I love all snow sports, but I found that Nordic just pulled me in, and continues to be my passion.
Favorite skiing memory?
A beautiful day in Summit, Colorado, where I was able to help my team bring home our fifth state championship title by winning both races. It was the end to one of my favorite eras of my racing career, and it felt like there could be no better way to end it!
Favorite workout?
For me there’s nothing quite as fun as a perfect mock sprint, but I love super long days at home where I can just get lost in the mountains and explore wherever I feel called to!
What keeps you motivated?
In short, the thought of crossing the line of a race in first is always a great motivator. But the amount of friends, teammates, and coaches that keep me coming back day after day drives me more than anything. That, along with the support from my parents, has always encouraged me to be the best human being, athlete, and competitor that I can be.
